The club has once again been asked, by SASA, to provide helpers (minimum age 10) for the forthcoming Scottish National Age Group Championships that is being held at Tollcross Leisure Centre on Thursday 12th April to Sunday 15th April 2007.

The helpers are needed to work with the boxes, in which the swimmers place their clothes at the start of each race, at the final sessions only each day.

I also need a couple of runners during each day to post the results on the notice boards.

If you are willing to represent the club by helping at this prestigious event then please telephone 0141 573 3234 or e-mail me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. no later than Friday 6th April 2007.

I only have start and approximate finish times at the moment. Once all volunteers have been identified a timetable will be produced and everyone will be notified of the sessions at which they are required to attend.

All helpers must wear shorts (navy if possible) and white (if possible) City of Glasgow Swim Team Polo shirts.

Please also bring a filled water bottle.

Thank you for your help.

Many thanks for all your get well wishes, cards and gifts -  they certainly make me feel better after my recent spell in hospital.   Hope to see you all in the near future.

As many swimmers and parents who attended the West District Open Championships at Cumbernauld at the weekend will be aware, there is a police investigation into an alleged allegation of the inappropriate use of a mobile phone camera by an adult in the changing area involving a swimmer from another club.

Can I ask all parents to make swimmers aware of the misuse of mobile camera phones, to be vigilant of suspicious behaviour in the changing area and the importance of reporting any such incidents to the coaching staff and pool staff whether at training sessions or at swim meets?

Thanks for your co-operation,

Kay MacLean CPO

Thank you to parents who provided food for our Mini League home match on Saturday 10 March.

The visiting teams were very grateful for the hospitality.

There was some lost property found at the end of the meet. If you think it could be yours then please telephone Pearl Punshon on 0141 573 3234.

The Waterfront Leisure Complex
Warm up 4.00pm

Please note that there will be a meeting of Parents and Swimmers who attended Florida 2006 camp in Tollcross Leisure centre on Friday 16th February at 19:15.
We are looking for volunteers to come forward to help with running City of Glasgow meet management.

Jim O'Prey, who has carried out the meet management tasks for a number of years now, has indicated that he wishes to pass these duties on to some other willing volunteers.

Jim will be running the next two meets in February and May, so this will be an opportunity for anybody who is interested to see what is involved and learn from his experience.

Ideally we are looking for a number of people with basic computing skills i.e. email, word processing etc, to run the HiTek meet management software. Any knowledge of how a swim meet runs would be a bonus

If you are interested, please contact any committee member - either in person or via the website, or Jim himself for more details..

Message from West District organisers:

"Thousands of commuters will face more motorway misery this weekend when resurfacing work is carried out on the M74."
The roadworks will begin at 8pm on Friday, Dec 8th and will continue throughout the weekend. The work will be carried out between Junctions 5 (Raith) and 6 (Hamilton). During the work, traffic will be reduced to one lane northbound and two lanes southbound.
Please make every effort to pass on this information to all from your Club travelling to Larkhall this weekend.
Please allow plenty of travel time.

Please note:

Gold Squad in the West:
Evening training on Friday 8th Dec will be held at Scotstoun from 7.00-8.30pm.

The Swimteam Office will be closed on Friday 8th and Monday 11th Dec.

Clyde Coast Mini League Trials (for 2007 team) will take place on Saturday 16th December 2006 at Tollcross Leisure Centre
As the name suggest this is for younger swimmers 8, 9, 10 and 11 years, and provides a fun low key introduction into competition for these younger swimmers, with three matches swum from March till May.
The top six clubs of the league swim in a final swim-off held at the beginning of June each year for the Rosebowl, this is by far the best and noisiest gala of the swimming world.
All members who wish to be considered for selection to the City of Glasgow Swim Team’s mini-league team 2007 should come along to Tollcross and try out.
We are looking for swimmers born in 1997 or later.
Warm up at 9am, should be finished no later than 10.30am.

Louise Clayton
Asst. Coach & Development Officer
