We have received the following request from West District, if anybody wishes to volunteer, please contact John directly.
The District Regional Squad Programme is running in 4 x "areas" this year with approx 180 swimmers taking part.
I have 2 x Team Managers who have volunteered to work with the DRP this year but I need at least an additional 2 x Team Managers from the West District Clubs to help run these Training Days, with 1 x Team Manager per Squad.
West District Team Manager - Role Description
I would plead (on bended knee, even prostrate on ground !!) to anyone in your Clubs that either have experience from helping at Training Camps etc. or are just interested in helping the swimmers have a fun day and ease the pressure from the Lead Coaches to allow them to coach and not worry about the management and admin for the days, to volunteer.
If I get more than 2 x volunteers, then all the better as it will allow more people to get experience and will share the load.
Please circulate this as widely as possible and remember if everyone thinks that someone else will do it then NOBODY DOES IT and it will be the swimmers that will suffer.
I made it clear to all Clubs when we started down this inclusive DR Squad Programme that it could not be supported centrally by me and a few others and that its success was dependant on the involvement of the Clubs.
Anyone interested should phone me on 01698 825507 or email on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
I appreciate feedback by next Wed 19th Sept to allow for planning.
Regards
John

Changes to Training: West - Gold ,Transition & Bronze
Due to building works taking place in Knightswood Community Centre, Knightswood pool will be closing from Monday 17th September - Tuesday 25th September.
Training times for the Gold, Transition & Bronze Squads have therefore been change during this time to the following;
The club has organised a bag-packing day on Saturday 1st September at Sainsbury's Braehead from 11am until 4pm
All swimmers are requested to attend for at least part of the session (we realise the 3K race is on that day which some of you may be going to, but it should be over by 11am, so you can always come later)
This fundraising helps to pay for Warm weather camps, holiday and stroke camps, so if you expect to go on any of these then you should attend the fundraising event.
Club Kit should be worn.
Please come along and support your team, parent helpers are also very welcome.
Tickets are available from coaches and committee members at a cost of £5 per person and this includes a buffet and disco
For those who haven't attended before, this is a fun night with prizes being given out across every squad in the club for excellence, improvement and encouragement. There are also some special awards.
Tickets are limited, so only swimmers and immediate family members are able to attend
UPDATE 19/9/07 Tickets now sold out - sorry!
We are also looking for raffle prizes, if you have anything you can donate, please hand it to any coach or committee member.
