Team Spirit!
Wow! What a final it was! The excitement started building at the Thursday training evening. The team had got together and had an excellent night of sprints and relays with a massive doze of fun! Their enthusiasm swelled on the bus to Ayr and they managed to stand still just long enough for some brilliant team photos!
As the children got ready the stands started to fill. By the start of the racing it was standing room only. The audience were fantastic, and greeted the swimmers with a wall of sound from the first blast of the starter’s horn. By the end of the event it looked like everyone was on their feet!
Glasgow got off to an amazing start winning the opening relays and getting an early lead. North Ayrshire fought back and as the children swam the last few races there was only 5 points between them! North Ayrshire just clinched the title but the Glasgow swimmers were absolutely brilliant. Every child swam at their best, giving everything for their team. The support for each other was fantastic and the children fought for every point.
The children then took over McDonalds on the way home and celebrated an excellent team performance. The atmosphere on the bus on the way home was fantastic and the children had a ball!
Every child who swam for the team, in the lead up to, and at the final, should be very proud of their achievements - well done!
If you would like a professional copy of the team photograph, it will only cost you £5! All money raised goes to the club funds. Let us know by emailing Caroline Kiddie - don’t forget to say if you want the photo with or without the coaches in it!

The following Amendments to the Club Constitution have been submitted for discussion at the AGM:
I would like to propose a change to the constitution, section C5. 1 (I propose that not only the Head coach be allowed to attend Management committee meetings, but the head coach plus three other coaches so that there is a fairer representation of coaches from other squads, The coaches chosen to attend being selected and approved by the head coach.
Proposer: Carole Gallacher
Seconder: Janice Preston
I would like to propose a change to the constitution, section C5.1 (size of Management Committee) I propose that this be changed from 4 officers of the club plus 10 other adult members to, 4 officers of the club and the amount of Adult members be left open to be decided at the AGM by the members in attendance. I feel that this is too large a club for a small committee and a larger committee would offer more members a fairer representation across the whole of the club.
Proposer: Alan Shearer
Seconder: Christine Jackson
I would like to propose that a change be made to the constitution, section C6.4.3
(Management Committee Meetings) I propose that that the Quorum be changed from 1 officer plus 40%, to Two officers plus 70% of Management Committee present before a decision can be put to a vote.
Proposer: Liane McPherson
Seconder: Karen Pettigrew
A copy of the current constitution is available in our document library
It is recommended that only adults attend this meeting.
As always this meet is one of our major fundraising ventures and we will be running the usual raffle and tombola.
We would be grateful for any donations.
Anyone who would like to make a donation can either hand it in to Cathie Robertson at our office in Trongate or to any committee member, coach or just bring it along on the day of the meet.Knightwood Pool is closing due to repair works taking place over the next few weeks, unfortunately we have been unable to source extra pool time in Scotstoun or Drumchapel during this time.
